The skies over the islands of The Bahamas are
inviting pilots and their passengers to explore the gorgeous view of the Bahama
Banks and the numerous cays, islets and Out-Islands.
Private Pilots are welcome to Long Island and Stella Maris. The International
Airport is an official Airport of Entry (AOE) with its own Immigration and
Custom facilities. Single and twin-engine aircrafts and well as corporate jets
can land safely on the newly re-surfaced runway. Landing fees are extremely
affordable and FBO services like av-gas, parking and weather update are
available. In 2003, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism incorporated the "Private
Pilots' Phone", a pre-programmed telephone with speed dial numbers most often
needed by private pilots, typically for flight services, weather updates, East
Coast US Custom Facilities and long distance calling card access.
Once you cleared Bahamas customs and immigration, you are free to aim at other destinations within the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. Great Exuma's International Airport, just a short hop from Stella Maris, has a state-of-the-art fuel facility and is loaded with other amenities.
